Marvel Rivals
Hey again! Thanks for checking out my second blog post. This time, I wanted to talk about something I’ve been spending way too much time on lately. That’s my current favorite video game, Marvel Rivals.
If you haven’t played it yet, Marvel Rivals is a fast-paced, team-based, third-person shooter that brings together a bunch of Marvel characters into a chaotic all-out brawl. It’s kind of like Overwatch meets the Marvel Universe, which for me is just an instant win. You pick from a wide roster of heroes and villains, and each one plays super differently, with their own powers, strengths, and strategies.
Right now, my two favorite characters to play as are Groot and Scarlet Witch. Honestly, they couldn’t be more different.
Let’s start with Groot. Playing as Groot is just fun. He’s a huge tree tank with surprisingly smooth movement and some seriously cool abilities. One of the things I love about him is that he can shield teammates and control the flow of a fight without always needing to be in the spotlight. Groot might not be the flashiest hero, but he’s super helpful, and I feel like people really appreciate you when you play him well. It’s like you’re the quiet MVP of the match.
Plus, he’s adorable and deadly at the same time. His animations are top tier. Every time he says “I am Groot,” I smile a little. It’s just hard not to love him.
Then there’s Scarlet Witch, and she’s a whole different kind of experience. If Groot is all about defense and support, Wanda is chaos incarnate. I love her because she lets me really play with strategy and timing. She has powerful ranged attacks, and her magic can totally mess with the enemy’s plans. Sometimes I feel like a puppet master, just floating above the battlefield, throwing red energy and disrupting everything.
What makes her fun for me is how precise you have to be. She’s not the easiest character to learn, but once you figure her out, she’s a force. Her ultimate move can wipe out a whole team if you use it right, and that’s always a satisfying moment. Especially when you pull it off right as the other team is trying to capture a point.
As for the game itself, I think what makes Marvel Rivals stand out is how polished it already feels. The maps are beautiful and full of life. The movement is smooth, and the pacing of each match keeps things exciting, even if you’re losing. I’ve played a lot of competitive games where one bad match just feels frustrating, but in this game, I usually still have fun even if I don’t win, because the characters and environments are just that cool.
Another big reason I’m so into this game is the potential. There’s already a great roster, but I keep thinking about who they might add next. I’m really hoping they bring in Green Goblin and Gambit.
Green Goblin would be amazing for aerial combat. Just imagine flying around on his glider, dropping bombs, and laughing like a maniac. He’d add a wild, unpredictable energy to the game, which I think would shake things up in a good way. He could also be a great counter to more grounded characters who don’t have much vertical movement.
And then there’s Gambit. I’ve been a fan of his since the old X-Men comics. The idea of throwing charged cards as a primary attack is already cool, but you could do so much with his abilities. Maybe some quick melee attacks with his staff. Maybe a special move where he stuns enemies with an explosion of cards. He’s such a stylish character, and I think his personality would bring a lot of flavor to the roster.
The community around the game has also been awesome so far. I’ve seen so much great fan art and funny clips online. People seem to really care about this game, and that kind of energy makes it more fun to be a part of. Every time a new hero is announced or someone discovers a new combo, I get excited all over again.
To wrap it up, Marvel Rivals has become my go-to game when I want something exciting, creative, and just plain fun. Whether I’m tanking hits as Groot or throwing reality-bending spells as Scarlet Witch, I always feel like I’m in the middle of an epic comic book battle. And that’s exactly the kind of game I’ve been looking for.
If you’re a Marvel fan or just into team-based shooters, definitely give it a try. And if you ever see a Groot hiding behind a wall or a Scarlet Witch hovering around the point, say hi. It might be me.
